MasjidtoMasjid.org (“Masjid to Masjid”, “we”, “us”) is a global directory and information platform that helps Muslims find, learn about, and support masjids around the world. We are the “data controller” of the personal information described in this policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Masjid & profile submissions: details you provide when registering a masjid, submitting a video update, or submitting a Grand Mufti profile — such as names, roles, contact details, addresses, schedules, and any documents you upload for verification.
- Messages: information you include when you contact us or report incorrect information.
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location: if you use “Find masjids near me” or location-based Salah times, your browser may share your location with your permission. This is used to calculate prayer times and show nearby masjids. Coordinates you enter or your device provides are processed to produce results and are not required to use the rest of the site.
- Preferences stored on your device: your calculation method, madhhab, saved masjids, and similar settings are stored locally in your browser (local storage). This stays on your device unless you clear it.
- Usage & technical data: standard information such as device type, browser, and pages viewed, collected by our hosting provider to keep the service secure and reliable.
How we use your information
- To operate the directory and display verified masjid, video, and leadership profiles.
- To verify submissions before they are published (our Central Committee review process).
- To calculate prayer times and show masjids near you.
- To respond to your messages and requests.
- To protect the platform against misuse, fraud, and abuse.
Publishing submitted information
Some information is intended to be public. When a masjid or a leadership office submits a profile and it is approved, the details provided for publication (for example masjid name, address, prayer times, and the contact and social links intended for the public) appear on the website. Please only submit information you are authorised to make public. Verification documents you upload are used only to confirm identity and are not published.
Donations
Masjid to Masjid does not collect, hold, or process donations or payment information. Donation buttons link directly to each masjid's own official, verified channel. Any payment details you enter are handled by that masjid or its payment provider under their own privacy practices. See our Donations & Transparency Policy.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only:
- With service providers who help us run the site (for example hosting), under appropriate safeguards;
- When you choose to publish it as part of an approved profile;
- Where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the public.
Third-party content
Pages may embed third-party content such as maps and YouTube videos, and link to external websites and donation channels. Those services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Data retention
We keep submitted information for as long as a profile is published or as needed to operate the service and meet legal obligations. You can ask us to update or remove information you submitted.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's privacy
The platform is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Your rights & choices
- You can decline location access at any time in your browser.
- You can clear preferences stored on your device by clearing your browser's local storage.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. To make a request, contact us.
International users
Masjid to Masjid serves a global audience. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, which may have different data-protection laws.
